Hey guys! It is Allison here. I haven't done a cat trick in a while, so why not do one today? I apologize about the lack of posts lately. This is a busy time of year for me and Katie, so we have been having a hard time getting a lot of posts up. But we are still working hard to make this website convenient for every one to enjoy. But, here we are so lets start on the cat trick of the day: Paw!
Supplies:
The Cat
Cat treats
A clicker
You, the trainer!
Note: Your cat should be clicker trained for this trick.
1. Show your cat the treat, and let him/her take a sniff.
2. But your hands behind your back, and then show your cat your hand with no treats in it. But have your hand cupped like before, so your cat doesn't see that there really isn't any treats in your hand. Then say, "Paw!"
3. Distinctively, your cat will put his or her paw on your hand. Click and treat. Doesn't work? Do step two again and keep trying. Your cat just doesn't get it still? Do step two again, but put your hand out with the treats. You can also lift your cat's paw up when you do this. Keep trying!
4. Repeat step two and three until each time, your cat puts his/her paw on your hand. Keep clicking and treating when your cat does it right.
5. Now open your hand a bit showing slightly there is no treats inside. Again, say, "Paw!" If your cat puts his/her paw on your hand even though there aren't any treats inside, your getting closer! Click and treat. If not, go back to step two and three, or just keep trying on this step.
6. Keep opening your hand some more and say, "Paw!" and keep clicking and treating when your cat gets it right.
7. Is your cat offering you his/her paw when you give the command with your hand wide open with no treats? If so, you've got it! If not, keep trying.
Remember, pets have an attention span! A good training time amount would about five minutes three times a day. Also, if you are getting bored and frustrated, your cat may be getting bored too. But don't get frustrated. Training pets takes a LONG time. Don't worry!
Don't have a clicker? Finding one is easy! Just go to your locale pet store, and I'm pretty sure they will have one!
Don't forget our fabulous Terrific Treats section where you can find great pet treat recipes. Yum!
Do you have a pet lizard? Send a pic to us today and maybe your lizard can be the Mydivapets star lizard and be in every single lizard post we make! Good luck!

Santa Paws
12/30/13
Hey guys! Katie here :) Santa Paws was kind to those at RuffRow! The presents were loved by all. However, Diva did not get why she got the crate! At least now she's not taller than her crate! Santa Paws got her a nice black metal crate. We promised Diva that she will get a fashionable cover to go around the crate. Phira went crazy with the two balls she got from Santa Paws. Her favorite (at first) was the crinkly ball, but later on she decided she would try out her new 'Wubba'. She loved Wubba. She played with it all day! The Wubba was a bunny with a squeaker, and she and Diva could tug with it as well! Annie was happily content with her new bed. She loves to cuddle with her people, and when she is not cuddling she's sleeping. It's hard work being Annie! Selena, our 15 year old Aussie, got her present early. It is a runner for the kitchen. She loves to walk in the kitchen, but she often falls. The traction in her paws is long gone. She is now able to walk into the kitchen easily! The last present for our animals was for Cailee. The dogs love to chase Cailee, so she's often far out of reach. Her jumping skills are superb. She never goes on the floor. Santa Paws helped her with her problem by getting her a cat castle as tall as me! It's five feet tall and cushioned inside. Cailee looked at it once and walked away. Yes, she walked away. What kind of cat is she?! She thinks she is too good for a castle? That does not make sense. Cailee is also a picky eater... She only eats the cheap cat food from King Soopers. That's it! You try feeding her chicken, and she turns her nose. All this talk about what my pets got for Christmas bring me to wonder what your pets got! There are a lot of great presents and I want to hear about them.

Cat Trick of the Day
12/30/13
Hey guys! Katie here :) Are you ready for a cat trick? I sure am!
Dance:
Supplies-
~ Cat treat
~ Cat
~ You
Directions-
1. Grab a treat and put the treat a good distance above your cat. You want your cat to be able to get their paws on your hand, but not their mouth.
2. Dangle the treat and wait for your cat to go onto his/her hind legs to get it. Once your cat is on his/her hind legs give them the treat while they are still in the air. If you cat goes back down before you give the treat, don't give it. You want to reinforce the behavior of standing up. You do not want reinforce sitting down for this trick.
3. Repeat step 2 until your cat goes onto his/her hind legs quickly.
4. Once your cat gets the idea of standing on his/her hind legs, wait to give the treat. Your cat needs to stay on their hind legs a little longer before giving the treat. 5 seconds is a good time.
5. Repeat step 4 until your cat is standing on his/her hind legs for continuously longer periods of time.
6. Now when your cat is once again on his/her hind legs start spinning the treat and your hand a little. As soon as you cat shifts a paw, give him/her the treat.
7. Repeat step 6 until your cat is shifting his/her paws at greater and greater distances.
8. Now try to get your cat to do a full rotation.
9. Repeat step 8 until your cat can spin with ease.
10. Now right after your cat spins say "Dance". This will be your cat's cue.
11. Repeat step 10 a couple of times before moving on to the next step.
12. Start saying the cue before your cat spins.
13. Repeat step 12 a couple times.
14. Great job! Your cat is now a pro dancer!
Remember to train 3 times a day for 5 minutes. This way you get enough time in the day to teach your pet a few things, but your pet does not get bored.
Do not get frustrated is your pet does not get the trick right away. Every pet takes a different amount of time to learn a new maneuver. With patience and a lot of practice your pet will be a pro in no time.

Cat Trick of the Day
Hello everyone! It is Allison. Guess who hasn't been posting to much? (Here comes the guilt.) I'm SO sorry! Well, here comes a cat trick. Did you see Katie's last trick on cat clicker training? It is pretty awesome! It is pretty helpful too... hint hint! Today's trick might use it... hee hee! Now time for what you have been waiting for! Dun dun dun!!! The trick for today is... come!
Supplies
Clicker
Cat treats
A cat
Trainer (you!)
Another person
1. Start by showing your cat the treat. Make sure the cat really wants it!
2. Start going backwards. If the cat follows, it is doing it right! If not, keep trying to get him/her to follow the treat.
3. If your cat is following you, you are starting! Click and treat.
4. Keep repeating. Someone else should probably be there to hold the cat while you get back into position to keep trying.
5. As you practice, say come. That way your cat learns the word. If your cat gets it right, click and treat as soon as possible!
6. As you practice more and more, start using smaller treats.
7. When you think your cat is mastering it with small treats, try doing it with no treats. If your cat gets detracted by this, go back to using treats. Maybe even make the treat size smaller. If your cat is getting it without treats, keep practicing! Remember to click and treat only when the cat does something right. Also include lots of positive reinforcement like pats and stuff when they do something right.'
8. If your cat is coming when you call "come!" well, you have done it! Your cat now knows how to come!
Remember, this process takes a while. You should only train about three times a day, for five minutes each. Also, only when your cat does something right you click and treat. Also include like I said earlier, lots of positive reinforcement like pats.
Did you know? That lizard contest for finding the Mydivapets lizard is still on! So, remember to send in some photos for the contest.
"Are there other websites by you guys?" you may ask. Well, Katie has other websites. There is mydivapets.yolasite.com, thesurprisinglycraftyme.blogspot.com,and mostlyfantasywriter.blogspot.com. They are all by Katie, and they are awesome too, so check them out!
Plus, mostlyfantasywriter.bolgspot.com has another contest going on! You get to design your own book cover for "The First Wizard" by Katie, and the prize is a free addition of the book!
Do you have any questions about Mydivapets? If so, post a comment! We will try to get back to you as soon as possible!
Is there an animal that you want to train, but this website doesn't have it yet? Post a comment about which animal you want to have training tricks for, and we'll try to post some tricks for that animal!
Thanks for reading this post! Happy training!

Cat Trick of the Day
9/15/13Hey friends! Katie here :) Yep, you read that title right! We now have an official Cat Trick of the Day! We had a friend request it and now here it is. We're going to start with a really basic trick. Well actually it's not a trick at all. It's Clicker Training. A clicker is a really useful tool in training, because your pet can hear it very easily. You click the clicker right after you pet does the behavior you want correctly, but sometimes pets are really scared of the clicker. That's why you have to train them to like it. Once they like the clicker and know they get a treat after it they know that whatever they did was the correct behavior.
Supplies:
Clicker (You can easily get these at pet stores.)
Treats (I'd recommend the cat's favorite. Cats can be a little picky. I know my cat's favorite treats are Whisker Lickin's, so I use those to train Cailee.)
Cat
Yourself
Clicker Training:
1. With a handful of treats in your hand click the clicker and give a treat to your cat. Repeat this many times.
2. If your pet is scared away at first when they settle down give them a decent amount of treats, beginning to ease down their nerves.
3. That is it! Simple right? Now you can use a clicker when training other tricks!
If you have a lizard Mydivapets would really appreciate it if you could send us some pictures to use as the star! Me and Allison will choose the winner! Enter for a chance to win.
Do you love Mydivapets? Tell us below by commenting! We love to here from you.
Check out our other websites: mydivapets.yolasite.com, mostlyfantasywriter.blogspot.com, thesurprisinglycraftyme.blogspot.com, Mydivapets (Facebook Page), and The Life of a Writer (Facebook Page).
Did you know at our writing blog we have another competition going? If not, we do! I am looking for someone that can make me a cover for my book The First Wizard. The book isn't finished yet, but when it is if you make the winning cover than you get a free copy! Enter for a chance to win the amazing prize. Also, be on a look out for Allison's new book!
Don't forget to only train in three five minute sessions a day. You don't want your pet thinking training is boring!
If we don't have a trick for a pet that you have please tell us! We will get right on it and create a trick for your pet.
Spread the word about our blog to everyone you know! We strive to make the bond between pet and owner strong and training is just one of the great ways to do this!
Remember that small treats work just as well as large treats, so unless your pet does something amazing try to keep the treats small so that you don't waste any treats!
Try making homemade treats! Your cat will go nuts for them!
Happy training!

Shelters
I got Diva from a shelter in Texas, but we weren't sure if it was the right choice, because when we went to meet her she wouldn't play and didn't seem like a very happy dog. We still got her and now I love her just as much as all my dogs. Don't tell my other pets, but I MIGHT like her even a little more:) So about 3 days after we brought her home she started doing things differently like playing with toys. She was starting to act like a happy dog with a home. Diva started to act like a dog with smarts also. She's a mix of a Dachshund and an Aussie I think. I've been doing agility for about 2 years with Diva and were able to go into open soon. I got my cat Cailee at a different shelter in Texas and we did the same thing we did with Diva she didn't act very playful. Now about a year later she's a lovely cat. I recommend shelters, because you never know you might find your best friend there.

The Cat Scratcher ruins
This is Cailee's Catnip
We find her eating something just a bit unusual. I ask her," Is that yummy?" She just keeps on eating. She looks up for a second and looks at me as if she were saying,"This is better then catnip!" Now what do you think would be better then catnip to Cailee? The plastic netting that oranges and onions are held in!
